Arkansas National Guard flight crew capture total solar eclipse
An Arkansas National Guard crew from the 189th Airlift Wing have captured images of Monday's total solar eclipse while on a training flight out of Little Rock Air Force Base.
The guard members were flying aboard at C-130 Hercules transport aircraft and were able to record video as the moon passed in front of the sun and reached totality.
It was the first total eclipse to sweep across a large swath of North America since 2017, and will be the last one visible from the contiguous United States until 2044. The period of totality lasted up to 4-1/2 minutes depending on the location in a narrow band that traversed the continent from Mexico to Maine.
A partial eclipse, in which the moon obscures only a portion of the sun, was visible across most of the continental United States outside the path of totality, where weather permitted.
